A newly discovered planet orbiting a small, nearby star appears to be a “water world,” with a surface that might be covered with liquid water.

“This is certainly the first planet around another star which we think is mostly made of water,” says David Charbonneau of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass., who led the research team that found the new planet, named GJ 1214b.

You know when...

Someone verbally attacks another person, and the person being attacked always feels like they have to prove the other wrong? For example, person A tells person B, that they’re a snob and blah, blah, blah. And Person B, feels pressure to say something clever to turn the force around, regain the power over the other. Why do we resist to fall and crumble? As in, give in, and admit our shame, in front of the crowd (if there is one) or just agree and tell them they were right about us… Human nature… Would any psychologists here like to interpret?
